§ 01
The challenge
Sage & Bloom is a two-person residential design studio doing stunning work — but their website told a different story. It was a Squarespace template with small photos and generic copy that made them look like every other designer in town. They were attracting budget-conscious clients who wanted a quick room refresh, when their real talent is full-home renovations. The founder wanted a site that would attract the right clients and justify their premium pricing.
§ 02
The approach
We treated this like a design monograph. Full-bleed photography. Minimal text. Every project shown as a narrative, not a gallery. We used Playfair Display and Cormorant Garamond to establish an editorial tone that matches the sophistication of their work. The portfolio is structured as case studies — each one walks a potential client through the transformation from 'before' to finished space. We also created a dedicated 'Process' page that explains their full-service approach, which filters out clients who are just looking for someone to pick paint colors.
§ 03
The result
Within three months of launch, Sage & Bloom stopped getting inquiries for small projects. The clients coming through their website were specifically seeking full-home design engagements. Their average project value doubled from $35K to $70K. The founder now turns down more projects than she accepts, which was unthinkable a year ago. The site itself has become a talking point — three design publications featured it in their 'best designer portfolios' roundups.
§ 04 · Client
"Before, I'd get emails asking if I could help pick out throw pillows. Now I'm fielding calls from homeowners who want to gut-renovate their entire first floor. The site changed who finds us."
